A tale of that wacky world of infertility that has now spiraled into the fascinating world of Guatemalan adoption and now... Parenting a child who's smile lights up the world, has a laugh that would drive the meanest person to hysterics and who also happens to have a genetic deletion at 16p11.2.

Home
We are home. The doctor came in this afternoon and told us that all tests were negative and, after taking an infant CPR course, we could go home. It consisted of watching a video w/the nurse and practicing on the baby dummy (not very pc I know). We are home. I stink to high heaven but that's ok cause Dylan is sitting next to me. He'll be on anti-seizure drugs for a while but it's ok. As long as he's safe and healthy.
I can't thank you enough for all of your kind words and prayers and good thoughts. They really helped Marc and I thought this.

YAY!!!! Will still keep Dylan, you, Marc in my prayers. Do the MD's still think the seizures were from the virus? Pretty scary. I'm glad Dylan is well enough to be home. I have a friend who's gonna light a candle for him tomorrow at mass. It's okay if you stink :)
ReplyDeleteI am so glad to hear that Dylan is home and doing well. That was just too scary!!!!!!!

ReplyDeleteHe's home! That's wonderful news! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm so glad everything is looking good for Dylan. You poor things, what a scare. I'm so sorry you all had to go through this.
ReplyDeleteSo, how's mommyhood other than this?
Whew.. I've been waiting for your post.. letting us know all is well :) Now... go have a happy holiday with your sweet new baby :)
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear it! I talked to S tonight and I'm so relieved for all of you. Can't wait to meet little tough guy Dylan and give you a HUGE hug! I'll tell you what S said later. ;-) Sounds like you are SUPER Mom! Love you!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry I missed everything.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that all is well now.
Prayers and positive thoughts for no more seizures coming your way.
AH! I'm so thankful Dylan is okay, and you're all home!
ReplyDeleteI have a second cousin who had seizures as a very young infant, they never did find out why. They put him on antiseizure meds for a while, then took him off, and it never happened again. He's now a strapping lad of 15!
My thoughts continue with you, that Dylan never has a repeat of those scary episodes.
Erica
So glad you are all home and Dylan is doing better.
ReplyDeleteJulie - Congratulations. I'm sure it was a scary time, but glad to hear Dylan is doing better. Now get some rest (and maybe even a shower :) ) so you can enjoy your time being a mom.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you,
Robyn
Huge sigh of relief! I'm so glad he's better.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are home and Dylan is doing better! Thinking of you guys.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're home. Hang in there. It's meant to be that Dylan is home now, esp going through this. I'll keep your family in my thoughts.
ReplyDeleteThat's great news! Glad you're all back home.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy that Dylan is better. I've been praying (in my own way) for complete healing and peace for you and Marc.
ReplyDeleteHow scary for everyone. I am glad that things are better. Wow.
ReplyDeleteJulie, I was away for the weekend and I just checked your blogg. I am so sorry that you guys are going through this. I am glad to hear that everyone is home. You guys will still be in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteWhen our youngest boy was a baby he had seizures also. After many tests the doctors told us it was epilepsy - gave no reason why. After six months on phenobarbital, he outgrew the seizures. He is now 13 years old and the healthiest boy you've ever seen.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to you kiddo!! Everything will work out just fine!
I'm so very relieved. Keeping you all in my prayers!
ReplyDeleteJust now reading your last 3 posts, so I didn't know Dylan was sick, but I'm so glad to hear he's okay. What a scary, awful thing.
ReplyDeleteGosh....such wonderful news, am so happy for you all.

I'm woefully behind here but just wanted to say congrats on bringing Dylan home the first time and now. I'm so glad he's ok and can't wait to hear (read?) more about him!! He's precious!!
ReplyDeleteOh, Julie! I just had a chance to catch up! How scary for you. I'm glad that Dylan is getting the treatment he needs and I'll be keeping you all in my T's and P's.
ReplyDeleteOkay, enough already; please tell Dylan no more scary dramatics, just settle down and drink his milk and take a nap so mommy can come online and catch us up on life with baby. My gosh, you have a baby in the house, Julie!!! :-)
ReplyDeletegood!
ReplyDeleteso happy to hear that things are calmer.
Oh my gosh Julie - I am so sorry you had such a scare!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI have been out of town and missed all of this. I hope that Dylan will be ok and not give you any more scares.
I'm thinking of all of you!!!!
I was just catching up on your blog and was sad to read news of Dylan's seizures but glad to hear he is home and you and he are doing well.
ReplyDeleteIf it is any comfort, my brother-in-law's brother's little boy had a similiar experience at 3 years. He had a few seizures and then hasn't since (couple of years ago). The doctors have probably told you similiar.
Good luck. Enjoy the holidays with your new family with the precious little boy.
I am so sorry to hear that this has happened but thrilled to hear he is okay. Almost all of the children I know of adopted from Guatemala have gotten sick at first but were okay. I guess all the changes. It's very scary. They were all fine though.
